Interpreters
What are Volunteer Interpreters?
BHB provides free interpreter services to patients whose first language is not English and to patients who are hearing impaired. Patients and their healthcare team can communicate important medical information through our interpreter volunteers who are available via phone service and on-site providing verbal or written translations for numerous foreign languages.
Where is Interpreter Service available?
The service is available at all BHB settings.
How does the service work?
When people have difficulty communicating in English or are hearing impaired and request an interpreter, a BHB nurse or the Workforce Placement Coordinator contacts the appropriate interpreter.
How can I volunteer?
If you would like to volunteer to be an interpreter, please contact the Workforce Planning and Development Office.
