Overseas Partners

KEMH has taken four giant steps toward becoming a global treatment centre, offering the best of some of North America’s most respected hospital centres:

  • Partners Healthcare Systems – BHB’s agreement with Partners links KEMH with three world-class institutions:
  • Dana Farber Institute – Urology and Breast Cancer specialists will visit every 4 to 6 weeks for consultations at KEMH. A special programme is being developed for breast and prostate cancer patients.
  • Massachusetts General Hospital –Globally respected for their trauma care, KEMH’s partnership will provide us with expertise in Trauma and Acute complex Emergency surgery.
  • Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital is ranked among the world’s top rehabilitation facilities. They are particularly well known for their work with stroke survivors.

In addition, strong links have been forged with:

  • Johns Hopkins – Talks are currently underway to link BHB to Johns Hopkins pre-eminence in cardiology, anesthesiology and critical care.
  • Lahey Clinic – Bermuda currently has no facilities for radiation treatment. The proposed partnership with Lahey will utilise technology that allows for remote consults and will bring radiology specialists to KEMH to do pre-therapy.

KEMH already benefits from an association with radiologists in Australia who can provide overnight diagnoses that are forwarded to a transcription service in Canada and returned to KEMH the following day.
